M-1941 Army Tent Stove
2 Attachment(s)
I thought I would mention about this little stove in a separate thread from the "Stock piling fuel" thread.
I use this multi-fuel stove in my garage, it puts out between 30,000 and 40,000 BTU and burns anything. And I mean ANYTHING except propane and with a HWT burner installed it will do propane too. With the fire grate installed its a solid fuel burner for wood or coal. With the liquid fuel burner installed it will burn anything from gasoline to veggie oils. That's waste motor oil, diesel, kerosene, fuel oils, gasoline, jet fuels, and veggie oils from McDonalds or Burger King. Its ugly but it has a top loading door that works as a cook eye too ! Here's pix of the stove and the multi-fuel burner. |
Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
Ah Yes, remember them well. They will produce enough heat to make you take all of your clothes off. (LOL) The 5 gallon mixture of diesel and gasoline lasted all night when I was in the Army in real cold areas. A stand outside of the tent was a must to hold the 5 gallon can. I also used them with coal and then too it was very toasty inside the tent.
Good catch!! |
Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
Pat, how has this stove been working out for you so far? I am looking for something like this.
Thanks, |
Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
It heats my garage on waste oil, gasoline or whatever mixed together. I use a 55 gal oil drum for a fuel tank. Whatever I have on hand to fill the tank burns fine.
Works great. |
Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
Looks very cool! I'm not sure if this is a good price, but I found a link for it.
http://www.colemans.com/miltent.htm Very seriously considering purchasing one myself. Thanks for the thread! :wavey: |

I bought the same stove about 15 years ago and it is still in its box! I also bought a 10 man ARTIC TENT (used $500.00) so I got the whole package! I am debating geting the lighting package it is only $50.00 but is 150 Lb. so shiping to me is about $100.00 -- I may ponder on it a bit but will likely order that too! Hell might as well as once they devalue the dollar the $$$ won't buy much -- even war surplus!:452::censored::banghead: BTW: I have 2 of the military "STOVE FANS" and they are WAY better than the mickey mouse civilan fans and well worth the $$$ they are heavy duty built move WAY MORE AIR and have a nice container to store it in when not in use. I highly recomend geting one it does increase the effective ness of a wood stove! the DUCK :15_1_70v: |
Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
Be careful the reason we have fire guards in the army is these fuel drip stoves very warm and long lasting but you have to maintain the drip hoses and keep an eye on it we sell a lot of them and the yukon and advise people dont use the fuel drip burrners due to the possibility of fire but all in all one of the best tent stoves out there also with coal be carefull we once melted one it was a strange combination of coal, cold weather, and to much beer but it can happen

Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
I once melted a .303 Enfield - as a Cadet we were told to dispose of a load of old ammunition, we just kept shooting non stop until the barrels drooped from the heat and they were unusable. Anything can be destroyed if you try hard enough!

M-1941 is not a "drip burner". . |
Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
Your correct it isnt but it uses the same gravity hose system as the other stoves and the hoses are where you run into trouble you just got to make sure there maintained and have a drip loop
|
Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
You don't need the "drip loop" for a 55 gal fuel tank that is top tank outside. Replace the fuel hose with a copper line and flare fittings. Monitor the float valve, especially when using "dirty" fuels ...
NEVER LEAVE THE M-1941 RUNNING ON LIQUID FUELS UNATTENDED ! . |
Re: M-1941 Army Tent Stove
I too puchased one of these little marvels as a "back up" heat souce to keep the little ones warm. Well remembered as the only source of heat for weeks at a time in the cold N.W. Washington winters.
Unfortunately the shipping was more than the price but I'm happy to have it. |
